History of Cornerstone PHO
Cornerstone Alliance, Inc. Physician Hospital Organization (PHO), based in Lima, OH, was established in 1995. The organization was developed by the West Central Ohio Primary Care Physicians and St. Rita’s Medical Center to ease the transition for area providers into a healthcare landscape dominated by managed care entities. The primary service area for the Cornerstone Provider Network consists of Allen, Auglaize, Hancock, Hardin, Logan, Mercer, Paulding, Putnam, Shelby, and Van Wert Counties in West Central Ohio. There are over 500 participating providers and we continue to grow. Our provider network consists of physician, hospital and ancillary providers.
Mission Statement for Cornerstone PHO
The mission for Cornerstone Alliance is to ensure that current and future residents in our Primary Service Area are able to receive health care locally, with good access, competence and affordability. This mission is fulfilled by:
Cornerstone, being a Messenger Model PHO, contracts with member participating providers and then negotiates the non-economic terms of payer agreements with insurers and provider networks seeking to provide services within the primary service area. There are presently 38 payer agreements in which contracted providers participate by delivering health services.
- Cornerstone contracts with the payer entities to perform credentialing of network providers on behalf of the contracting payers.
- Cornerstone works cooperatively with several payer organizations to host a number of educational programs for provider offices upon an annual basis.
- Cornerstone also provides or arranges other services for contracted physician offices which are intended to reduce practices operating costs or to generate incremental revenues.
Cornerstone is an Ohio Non-Profit Corporation, governed by a 12-member Board of Trustees. A Credentialing Committee, Provider Services Committee and Finance Committee are in place with the organization and are all governed by the Board of Trustees.
